THE BELIEVERS NEW SPIRIT

I. I BELIEVE IN A SECULAR CHRIST - BY SECULAR I MEAN NON - RELIGIOUS. I DO NOT BELIEVE IN A RELIGIOUS CHRIST.

A. One Of The Difficulties Of Christianity Is We've Put Christ In A Special Building, On A Special Day, With Special Forms Of Worship.

1. Cut the special out - Christ is a secular person by secular here I take another of its definitions earthy.

2. If Christ is your other self - Christ washes dishes, He plays baseball and goes to football games

3. If Christ is your other self, He runs computers and makes decisions for your business.

4. He gets His hands dirty as a mechanic or mixing mud on a construction job.

5. We just don't think about Jesus doing these things.

B. The Lord Jesus Is A Common Person - Because You Are Common.

1. I believe Jesus is common because He lives in common people.

2. I trust you have learned that you are nothing without Him.

II. THE ESSENCE OF SIN IS MY LIVING AS AN INDEPENDENT SELF.

A. We Have Seen That Our Created Self Was Made To Contain And Express The Creator Self - That Self Who Is And Has Always Been Selfless Love.

1. In the person of Lucifer a new and horrible form of life came into existence.

2. A created self who refused to contain tile selfless God.

3. He chose rather to live for and by himself. That is the very essence of sin.

4. Do you live for and by yourself. Is it your will and choices being done or is the will of the Father your will.

B. Lucifer Is The Sin Spirit, The Spirit of self Love, Self-Seeking - All The Sins Known To Man Proceed From Those Two Things.

1. The history of the Garden of Eden tells us what has happened to humanity

2. As human with free choice Adam could tale another way - the way of self love and self seeking

3. Deceived by Lucifer - the lying spirit, Adam received Him into his being.

4. The Bible calls this the spirit of error and man has become a child of the devil (John 8:44)

C. No One Should Argue this Point Because The Whole Human Race Is Born With A Spirit Of Self Centerness.

1. Paul calls it, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience. Eph.2:2-5

2. We are all born with that same spirit for we are all by nature egoists and self lovers.

III. HOW DOES GOD GO ABOUT SOLVING THIS PROBLEM.

A. He Has Taken Human Flesh And Lived The Perfect Life Adam Failed To Live.

1. He then identified himself with us by dying for our sins. God made him to be sin for us.

2. In dying for us He solved two great problems.

B. First, He Took The Curse Of His Own Broken Law.(Gal. 3:13)

1. Being made a curse for us, by the shedding of His blood, He became God's mercy seat.

2. In that mercy, God could be just in justifying the ungodly and pronounce all believers in Jesus cleansed and forgiven t-24

3. That cleansing is so complete we are now made the righteousness of God in Him.

4. Think of it! God determined that the violation of His law meant death - in grace He suffered the payment of that debt.

C. Christ Cross And Resurrection Solved Our Problem.

1. It was by this means He effected the destruction of the old union of humanity to Satan

2. He replaced it by the new union to Himself.

3. Our problem was our inner self being united to the self loving spirit of Satan.

D. As A Consequence We Followed The Desires Of Our Soul And Bodies.

1. When our bodies stimulated appetites in us we gratified them. When our souls stirred up dislike for a person or a bad attitude we simply followed them.

2. We were governed by our souls and bodies.

E. But Now Being Joined Unto The Lord In One Spirit The Enslaved condition Of humanity Is Ended.

1. The indwelling spirit of self centeredness has been replaced with Christ in you. Gal. 2:20

2. This change of union is from the spirit of self centeredness to the spirit of self giving.

3. Your old spirit is replaced by your new spirit

4. Your soul and body become the manifestation of the Lord Jesus. (II Cor. 6:16)

IV. THIS IS INDEED THE KEY TO NORMAL LIVING FREE HAPPY, NATURAL WITHOUT BEING RELIGIOUS.

A. We Are Released from A Spirit Of Self Love into The Boundless Energy Of A New Governing Spirit. His Holy Spirit.

B. When You Truly Discover The Reality Of What We Have Discussed For These Weeks , Then You Will Have The Key To Real Living.
