Session #4: We Are Saved and Sanctified by Christ, as …

The Lamb … The Serpent & … The Wheat

What is The Gospel that we enjoy in this day?

A, What was Jesus of Nazareth’s Core Message, and who was it for?

· John the Baptist & Jesus’ message was the “(Messianic) Kingdom of God is at hand.”

o Jesus’ message concerned a Messianic Kingdom of Heaven to come to this earth.

Matthew 6:10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth … <<< A Jewish prayer

o In Contrast, Paul says the Christian hope and destiny is for the third heaven.

2 Cor. 5:1 … we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

Col. 1:5 For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven,…

Philip. 3:20 For our conversation (citizenship) is in heaven; …

· Jesus of Nazareth had specific instructions for His disciples.

Matthew 10:5-6 These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: 6But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

· Jesus of Nazareth Supported Moses Law, & Covenants between God & the Jews

Jesus always deferred to Moses Law (See Matthew 8:4; Matthew 19:7-8; Mark 1:44; Mark 7:10; Mark 10:3; Luke 5:14; John 5:45-46; John 7:19; John 7:22-23)

E.g., Matthew 8:4 And Jesus saith unto him, …offer the gift that Moses commanded, …

1. Jesus’ “message” was for the Jews to receive the Messiah & His Kingdom on Earth

2. Jesus’ message was NOT for the regenerated, born-again, Gentiles.

o The 100% grace gospel was yet to come to the Gentiles via the Apostle Paul.

Have you noticed that Paul never cited any of Jesus’ miracles or doing except, …

… Jesus’ Suffering, Death and Resurrection, which Empowers Paul’s Gospel message in “the dispensation of the Grace of God,” in which we Gentiles live today.

B. Peter’s Gospel was to The Circumcision - Continuing Jesus’ message for the Jews.

Galatians 2:7-8 But contrariwise, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me (Paul), as the gospel of the circumcision was unto Peter; 8(For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles:)

Galatians 2:11-14 But when Cephas (Peter) came to Antioch, I (Paul) opposed him to his face, because he stood condemned. 12For prior to the coming of certain men from James, he (Peter) used to eat with the Gentiles; but when they came, he (Peter) began to withdraw and hold himself aloof, fearing the party of the circumcision (law). 13And the rest of the Jews joined him in hypocrisy, with the result that even Barnabas was carried away by their hypocrisy. 14But when I (Paul) saw that they were not straightforward about the truth of the gospel, I (Paul) said to Cephas (Peter) in the presence of all, "If you, being a Jew, live like the Gentiles and not like the Jews, how is it that you compel the Gentiles to live like Jews?

Paul’s says, Peter why won’t you permit these Gentiles have liberty.

o Thus, Peter heeded “The Law” many years after the Cross, at Galatia.

“The Law” Requires that YOU live to an Outer Standard, which YOU Cannot Perform.

Therefore, you MUST fake it … deny it, or … drop out!

Paul called Peter a “hypocrite” for faking it.

Thus, Peter’s Gospel to the “Circumcision” is … NOT the Gospel of Grace, for today.

C. Paul’s Gospel was to the Uncircumcision, to the Gentiles

Paul boldly called this Gospel … “My Gospel” or “the Gospel, which I preach”

Eph 2:8-9a by grace are ye saved through faith; that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works,

Romans 6:14b… for ye are not under the law, but under grace. (It’s Pure Grace/with No Outer Law)

Romans 2:16 God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.

Gal 2:2 I went up by revelation, and communicated unto them that gospel which I preach among the Gentiles,

2 Tim. 2:8Jesus Christ …was raised from the dead according to my gospel:

Gal 1:8 … preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

1 Cor. 14:37 If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.

Paul’s Most Powerful “My Gospel” verse?

Rom 16:25 Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery (“musterion”, secret), which was kept secret since the world began,

Let’s look at each phrase in Romans 16:25.

“Now to him that is of power to stablish you (anchor you), according to my gospel,”

“and the preaching of Jesus Christ,” (Few know what it sounds like to hear Christ preached.) It is rare that you hear Paul’s Gospel of Uncircumcision (Pure Grace).

Rather, We hear the traditions, commandments of men

Col. 2:22b “…after the commandments and doctrines of men?

· Paul cautioned the Church as Colossae, we hear this…

Col. 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

· We hear doctrine - dogma, law (To produce guilt to keep the programs going)

2Cor. 11:3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

· according to the revelation(Revelation is required to know this gospel)

Galatians 1:15-16 When it pleased God to … reveal his Son in me (Revelation prayer Eph 1:17)

· of the mystery” (The “SECRET Gospel” that is NOW made known!)

Col. 1:26-27 the mystery (musterion, “secret”) which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: 27To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory (expression) of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory (expression):

· kept secret(THE REASON FOR THE SECRET?)

1 Cor. 2:7-8 we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery (secret), even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: 8Which none of the princes (religious & political) of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

Religion & Politics Crucified Jesus.

Satan would much rather have an uncrucified Jesus, living in your town… than a crucified, resurrected Christ, as “the Spirit of Life in YOU,

since the world began, (The Father’s eternal plan was a Secret Gospel that was not made known until Christ revealed it to Paul.)

Ephes. 3:1-6 For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles, 2If ye have heard of the dispensation (administration) of the grace of God which is given me to you ward: 3How that by revelation he (Christ) made known unto me the mystery (Gk. musterion, secret); (as I wrote afore in few words, 4Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ) 5Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles (ambassadors) and prophets by the Spirit; 6(So), that the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body (Christ’s body), and partakers of his promise in Christ by the (Paul’s) gospel:

Ephes. 3:11 According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord:

Paul’s Gospel is JesusSuffering, … Dying, and … Rising, in order to be…

For us”for payment for our sins

Romans 5:8 God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

As us”to die as us and … to live His life in us, as us

Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

In us” - to give us Himself as LIFE to be in us

Col. 1:26-27 the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations…God would make known the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

Three Aspects of Paul’s Gospel; addressed by Jesus’ Suffering, Death & Resurrection

(NOTE: Paul never mentioned anything Jesus of Nazareth did on earth, except these three points)

Christ’s Death & Resurrection Deals with the Three Great Needs of Mankind

1) Sins, 2) Sin, and 3) Man need to possess an overcoming, righteous, life.

Jesus Died as the Lamb to wash us of our “sins

John 1:29 … John seeth Jesus and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

Romans 3:25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

Rev. 13:8 ...whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

2. Jesus Died as the Serpent forSIN

John 3:14 And as Moses lifted (elevated) up the serpent (snake, as the cunning and malicious one) in the wilderness, even so (also) must the Son of man be lifted up:

We MUST Understand Sin (as the “fallen Serpent life”) & Sins are fruit of that Serpent life

(Hanging apples on a orange tree does NOT make it an orange tree)

Jesus took on Our Sins by the cup in Gethsemane,

Jesus Took on Sin in His flesh by incarnation. – YET WITHOUT ACTS of SIN.

· Jesus Died … as the Brass (judged) Serpent, as upon Moses Pole (Cross)

Dealing with Our Serpent Poisoned Adamic “Old Serpentine Self”

We died “with & in Him” on the cross.

Seeing “Christ … as the Serpent”

Numbers 21:6-9 And the Lord sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died. 7Therefore the people came to Moses…; pray unto the Lord, that he take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people. 8And the Lord said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live. 9And Moses made a serpent of brass, (symbolizes judgment) and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.

NOTE that the serpents were NOT taken away, but God provided a judged serpent for them to individually look to as their healing from the affects of the Serpent’s poison that had entered their bodies. We carry that poison but were unaffected by it the poison was; (“kartargeo,”) meaning, made of no effect.” (See Rom 6:6 below)

Jesus was Ordained to be Made Sin for Us, by His Incarnation

2 Cor. 5:21 For he (God) hath made (“made” is “poieo”, ordained or destined”) him to be sin (singular) for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

(“Sin” is the Nature of the Serpent, Satan, bringing death (1Joh 3:8, 1Cor 15:56a)

Jesus’ Body, Received of Mary, was the Serpent-trap

Galatians 4:4 …, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,

Hebrews 4:15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

The Sin Nature In All Mankind Is Condemned

Romans 8:3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh (in the like outer Adamic human body form – which contains Sin), and for sin, condemned (damned) sin in the flesh: (In the flesh of Himself, on the behalf of … all mankind)

His Death, As Our Death …

Makes Sin’s Poison, Still in our Bodies, “OF NO EFFECT.”

Romans 6:4-5 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. 5For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

Romans 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified (“is crucified” – was, is and remains crucified even now) with him, that the body (Gk. “soma” physical body) of sin might be destroyed (Gk. kartargeo, made of no effect, unemployed), that henceforth we should not serve sin.

Now Being Dead - We Are Free FromThe Power Of Sin.

Dead Men Don’t React to TemptationDo You Believe You AreDead TO SIN?

Romans 6:7For he that is dead is freed from sin (sin’s power).

Jesus, and We in Him, Died TO SIN

Taking His Physical Body to The Cross, and Being Sinless, “On Our Behalf

Romans 6:8-11 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also (at the same time) live with him: 9Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. 10For in that he (Christ) died (in body), he died unto sin once (ending His relation to sin): but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.

Reckon means, “Add It Up.” You’re Dead (-) to Your Sinful Self and (+) Alive to God

Romans 6:11 Likewise reckon (logizimo, “count”) ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord (who dwells in you as your life).

Gal 2:20 I (as my old man) am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I (as an individual self) live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me (as my source): and the life which I (as my individual self) now live in the flesh I live by the faith of (“out from”) the Son of God who gave himself for me.

3. As the One “Grain of Wheat,” Jesus Died to bring LIFE His offspring.

His death Liberated His Life to be “in us,” as Our Life.

John 12:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit. (Of life)

1 Cor. 15:45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made (became) a living soul; the last Adam was made (became) a quickening (life-giving) spirit.

1 Cor. 12:12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.

Ephes. 1:10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven (The Church, which is His body), and which are on earth (The Jews & The Kingdom on Earth); even in him:

Two Expressions of His One Life – In Heaven and on the New Earth, for eternity

Many Sons are the Many Grains of Much Fruit

John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God

Hebrews 2:10 For it became him (God), for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory (the “seed” blossoming in its full expression), to make the captain (leader-1st fruit) of their salvation perfect (complete) through sufferings.

We are God’s “many sons” by Christ Resurrection Life in us.

Each Grain (Seed) Produced is by Nature - the same as of the life of the Sown Seed.

John 12:24 Verily, verily, I (Jesus) say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.

Galatians 3:16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.

1 Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed (Gk sperma), but of incorruptible, by the word (Christ) of God, which (who) liveth and abideth for ever.

We now have been germinated by the Father’s SEED - Christ

We now have the DNA of the Father by Christ “in us”\

2 Peter 1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature (nature means “that which is of a life, out of germination)

Christ’s Indwelling Life Completes Us.

Col. 2:10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:

1 Cor. 1:30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
