THE PERFECT OFFERING HEBREW 10:14

I. THE BIBLICAL DOCTRINE OF MAN IS THAT HE IS THE OFFSPRING OF GOD

A. Our Relationship To God Is Threefold:

1. We have the right of personal access to God.

2. The possibility of direct, immediate conversation with God is given us.

3. The privilege and responsibility of carrying out God's purpose rests on us.

B. After A Brief Declaration Of man's Origin The Bible Introduces The Subject Of Sin.

1. Sin according to scripture results in the exclusion of man from God.

2. It insults in the cessation of communion with Him.

3. The insult is that we air unable to fulfill the responsibility of accomplishing His purpose.

11. HOWEVER THE ULTIMATE MESSAGE OF THE BIBLE IS NEITHER THE ORIGIN OF MAN NOR HIS SIN.

A. The Final Message of The Bible Is That Of Redemption

1. The Bible is therefore a message to a sinning race, to those who air excluded from their birthright because of sin

2. It is a message to those who have lost communion with Him.

3. We have also lost the privilege and responsibility of co-operation with our God.

B. To That State Of Loss The Bible Appeals.

1. This Bible Was written for sinning people, not for sinless ones.

2. Jesus said - I came not to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.

3. In the Hebrew system a way was devised for sinning people to have fellowship with God.

4. In that system there were certain offerings - the Meal Offering, Peace, Sin and Trespass offerings.

5. We shall deal primarily this morning with the Sin Offering

III. WHAT IS THE SIN OFFERING

A. It Deals With The Method Of Putting Away Sin In Order That We Can Be Brought Back To Our

Birthright Which Is Access To And Fellowship With God.

1. The argument of the writer of Hebrews is that this ancient ritual was fulfilled in the person and work of Jesus Christ

2. For by one offering He hath perfected forever those who me sanctified.

3. How air we sanctified? Heb. 10:10

B. So The Declaration Of Our Text Is That In And Through The Son Of God We Air Restored To Right Relationship With God (Heb.1:3)

1. Remember our original statements

2. Sin excludes us from God - this results in our inability to have fellowship with Him.

3. Sin excludes us from unbroken communion with God.

4. Sin excludes us from carrying out God's purpose and plan

5. God has devised the means by which the banished can be restored to a right relationship with God.

6. That means, was the one offering of our Lord.

IV. LET'S CONSIDER THE OFFERING IN ITSELF

A. The Writer States that We Have Been Sanctified Through The Offering Of The Body Of Christ Once For All.

1. The psalmist states - Sacrifice and offering, thou wouldest not but a body but thou prepared for me.

B. By The Offering Of The Body Of Christ, That Body Prepared was Jesus, God Prefects Forever Them That Air Sanctified

1. The sacrifice of our 'kid by which we air redeemed even on the physical side was that of a body especially prepared by God for His Son.

2. Because of that fact the one who hung on the Cross is differentiated from all other men.

3. In that phrase "A body hut thou prepared for me" is all the mystery and wonder of the Virgin Birth 4. He was the only Sinless person to inhabit this world

V. HIS BODY FULFILLED ITS TRUE FUNCTION - WHAT WAS THAT FUNCTION?

A. To Be An Instrument Of The Spirit

1. The body of a human being is but the earthly instrument of the spirit and that is the essential fact in the life of a human being.

2. In His human body the man of Nazareth fulfilled the Divine purpose of His life.

B. If We Remember These things We Will Never Fall For The Error That One Man Died For Other Men.

1. We will never fall for the idea that some member of our own fallen race persuaded God to change His mind concerning man kind.

2. It took a perfect offering and a perfect person to provide the perfect sacrifice to procure our redemption.

VI THAT ONE OFFERING EXCLUDES ALL HUMAN ACTIVITY

A. Nothing We Can Do, Is Sufficient To Provide The Restoration With God ~Which Every Human Being Needs.

1. That offering excludes the value of human merit - for all human merit is worthless.

2. All of our righteousness is as filthy rugs

3. Go back to our text - by one offering, He perfected forever them that are sanctified

B. That Perfection Has provided the Restoration Of Everything Lost

1. Through that one offering we now have access to God and we now experience life from God.

2. We can now walk with and have fellowship with God.

3. Because of this restoration we are now fitted for co-operation with God in the fulfillment of His purpose.

4. His offering in that Sacred Body on the tree is not only our perfection but it is our sufficient perfection

C. For By That One Offering We Air Sanctified. Sanctification Is Wrought Inside Us By The Ministry Of the Holy Spirit

1. It is wrought outside of us on a lonely Cross on a hill called Calvary.

2. let no one heir doubt the efficiency of that one offering

3. That one offering is sufficient for God. if it was sufficient for God it is surely sufficient for me

4. The question this morning is this - is that sacrifice sufficient for you. You must make that choice.
